Sensory neurons get information about what is going on inside and outside of the body and bring that information into the brain or the spinal cord. Motor neurons get information from the brain or spinal cord and convey commands to the effector organs such as muscles and glands.

Interneurons receive information from sensory neurons and transmit that information to the motor neurons.
