Thalamus is a part of diencephalon which is situated within the cerebral hemispheres just below the corpus callosum. Hypothalamus is a part of diencephalon which is situated below and in front of the thalamus, immediately above the pituitary gland. Pons is a part of brain stem which is situated in front of the cerebellum, below the midbrain and above the medulla. Medulla oblongata is a part of brain stem which is the most interior region of the brain stem extending from the pons above, it is continuous with the spinal cord below.
